Big B recently received the Lokmat Maanbindu Award 2011 from President Pratibha Patil for his contribution to the world of cinema and entertainment.

As per Latest Amitabh Bachchn Interviews, he said that, I consider myself extremely fortunate to have received this prestigious award, and I offer my heartfelt gratitude to Lokmat and to everyone connected with the Lokmat family.

And except my parents and education, whatever else I have been blessed with - recognition and public respect, my life partner and my grihast jeevan, my children, my grandchildren - I have received only because of the love, respect and honour I have received from this wonderful, benevolent land of Maharashtra.

I will forever be proud that I am a part of Maharashtra, because whatever I have received, whatever I am today, is solely because of Maharashtra and Mumbai.

This year, I had the opportunity of doing some good work in the field of art.



I worked in Aarakshan, the film that held a mirror to the nation on the state of education in India today, and the way several instruments of education are being established today.

I have spent 42 years- that's more than three fourths of my life- in the venerable land of Mumbai and Maharshtra.

I would like to say that today is my venerable mother's death anniversary, and I believe that this award I have received today contains not just your love and blessings, but also those of my mother. Thank you for this!"

Amitabh Bachchan Latest News 2010:-

(1) As per Latest Bollywood Gupshup, Big B will work for free in a forthcoming film starring Malayalam superstar Mohanlal.

As per Amitabh Bachchan Blog, he wrote that, "Mohanlal, great exponent of his art and craft, one of the finest actors of the country, from Kerala and Malayalam cinema had come over to finalize dates and schedules for the film he is making directed by Capt Ravi. I shall just gloat in the honor that I shall derive by working in a Malayalam film and that too with the exceptional Mohanlal."

(2) Amitabh Bachchan Hit Movie in which he plays a 13-year-old kid suffering from Progeria, named “Paa” and Aparna Sen’s ‘The Japanese Wife’ has been selected as the two Indian films to be screened at The International Festival of Independent Cinema in Krakow, Poland.

The International Festival of Independent Cinema in Krakow started April 16, and will end on April 25.

(3) As part of Gujarat Tourism Development, for Amitabh Bachchan Gujarat Ambassador, Mumbai based O&M ad agency Chairman Piyush Pande along with two persons from Amitabh Bachchan’s office and representatives of Gujarat Tourism visited Gujarat’s Somnath Mandir to scout locations for shooting of Gujarat Tourism advertisement.

Amitabh Bachchan to be honored at Dubai film festival.

Legendry Bollywood actor Big B will be honored with a Life Time Achievement Award at the sixth annual Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) beginning here today.

He will be joined by his actor-son Abhishek Bachchan. Other Indian stars to grace the opening would be Ranbir Kapoor, award-winning actor Mammootty, artist and director M F Hussein, film director Shimit Amin, Manisha Koirala, Boman Irani, Sameer Dattani, Sonu Sood, Javed Jaffrey and Minissha Lamba.

The festival will open with 'Nine', a film starring Nicole Kidman and Penelope Cruz and also screen Indian flicks including Shaji Karun's 'Kutty Srank' and Indian superstar Ranbir Kapoor's 'Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year'. Among other Indian entries are 'Yogi', 'Well Done Abba' and 'Aval Peyar Tamilarasi'.

Trend-setting master-filmmakers join a league of fresh talent at the Indian cinema showcase of DIFF 2009. The selection is also representative of the cultural plurality of the country while offering perspectives on both urban and rural India.

The festival has come a long way since it began in 2004 when it showcased only 76 films from 27 countries.

This year, it will highlight 168 films from 55 countries and closes on December 16 with the world premiere of James Camerons mega-budget masterpiece 'Avatar'. 'City of Life', the first-ever feature film out of Dubai, directed by Emirati film-maker Ali Mustafa, telling the story of three individuals from different socio-cultural backgrounds, is another highlight of the festival.
